This! "A body nerd is someone who is fascinated by the human body in a way that is outside of the standard cultural story that tells us, essentially, that the body is a fleshy machine made of separate parts which we can reduce..." https://t.co/b0su8iENSq — amber dipietra (@thebodypoetik) August 31, 2018 from Twitter https://twitter.com/thebodypoetik August 31, 2018 at 05:45PM via IFTTT

I've never really been able to connect with the poetry of the Bible until today, listening to this podcast https://t.co/wtJUjjBkna from diviner and poet @SelahSaterstrom . Just listened to @TristanTaormino recent S ex Out Loud episode about sex and cancer. Great examples of how disability and illness can open up society’s often very limited ideas of what sex can be. — amber dipietra (@thebodypoetik) August 5, 2018 from Twitter https://twitter.com/thebodypoetik August 05, 2018 at 10:04AM via IFTTT

Writing as Body Work Class

by Amber DiPietra What kind of reading and writing makes you more aware of your own body’s story--the very visceral story of your blood and guts, your sensory awareness? How can we create new forms in our writing, art, or life by bringing our body into the process and, reflexively, letting the process of creating enliven our bodies? In this group experiment, lead by Amber DiPietra, we’ll feel our way through these questions by reading poems and passages from fiction, essay, and memoir. We’ll also do some guided meditation, breathwork, and simple exercises taken from healing arts modalities like massage, yoga, and contact improv dance. Bring a yoga mat or a beach blanket (depending on preference), wear workout clothes or comfy loungewear and comfy shoes, bring a couple extra pillows and blankets if you are the type to get cold. Saturday, October 20, 2018. The Morean Arts Center. 1 - 3pm. 719 Central Ave. St. Petersburg, FL.  Thanks to Keep St. Pete Lit!
